British Council (Lagos State Government Partnership Meeting)

The British Council facilitated a Partnership meeting between Lagos State Government representatives, and Higher and Further education institutions in UK, on Tuesday, 5th June 2018 at the British Council Office, Spring Gardens. London.  From right, Ruhul Amin (Representative, Dudley College of Technology),  Obafela Bank-Olemoh (Lead Delegate, Lagos State Government), Chidi Obialor (Dudley College Associate, Sectoredge), and a professor from one of the UK universities. 

Overview
The Lagos State Government (LASG) is interested in partnering with international institutions to support its ambition to set up international standard higher education institutions within Lagos. In view of this, the State government is looking to meet and engage with UK Higher Education institutions with strong Open and Distance Learning (ODL)programmes.

Also, as part of its wider education strategy, LASG has set out to comprehensively restructure the TVET system within the state and are seeking prospective investors and collaborators to lend their expertise or resources, set up vocational training centres, and help infuse global best practices into the Lagos State TVET system.

The meeting was designed to achieve the following objectives:

• To provide an overview of the Lagos State Governments education development plan/ strategy.

• To identify prospective partnership opportunities available to UK institutions.

• To identify potential partners (UK institutions) that LASG can work with to achieve their objectives as set out above.
